This is what I packed for my spring break trip on the beach:
- My craft robo
- My new ATC adhesive dispenser (huge)
- Stacks of printed paper to convert into dainty notecards
- Two reams of cardstock, just in case
- A brand new laptop (husband's)
- About 500 brass mini brads
- Exacto knife, many blades
- Paper cutter
- My all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copier
- A lamp (hate dim light) and extension cord
- A bin (or two) or assorted supplies
In the end, I discovered that I'd neglected to install the printer driver into the new laptop, so I couldn't print a darned thing!
Plus in my mad rush to get an order out that morning to South Africa (international shipping, by the way, can be a nightmare), I had forgotten to grab the flash drive with all of the files I'd meant to work on, so what I'd imagined to be a long productive week of making cards stretched out without a project in sight.
Luckily, I had a few disks of artwork that I could use to do some work completely from scratch. One was a Dover Clip-Art CD of WWI and WWII posters -- really lovely stuff.
I wasn't particularly productive (unless you count finishing "The Boleyn Inheritance" and "The Jane Austen Book Club as being productive), but I did design one piece that I really liked. I'm a little wary of selling it, however. I had always liked the image, one that made me think of strong, proud, capable women, but after animating the artwork I wondered if others might see another meaning in it.
What do you think?
Tee hee. Someone might just think it's the perfect sentiment!
ReplyDeleteReally, truly, you hadn't been over to Cornerstone before? How did you miss it?
Sounds like you had a good vacation, though.

Well, I need you to point out the cool things to me, Carol! I loved her darling little snow angel card...
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't it funny that I spent a whole bunch of time on that card before realizing what it did when it animated? I loved the mechanics, too! It works so nicely... someone suggested a series of insulting cards that you can send to your ex or people that you don't necessarily like... I can have a whole series of them...
Oh yes, you must! Maybe they would sell...and maybe they would just amuse yourself. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
